Helpful Hints for the Keys
Before the trip you will need to:
Pick up the gear at Deep Six Divers Service, Inc.
Shop hours are 9-6 Mon-Fri, 9-3 Sat, Closed Sunday.
Be sure to know your BC size, wetsuit size, and the amount of weight you will need (remember to add extra going into salt water).
Test all equipment at the shop to ensure it works properly. Check that the auto inflate mechanism works properly and that both tanks are full.
Be sure to have a map and fully understand it before you leave.
On the trip please:
Plan on being at the docks by 7:30 A.M. at the latest, with your gear fully assembled and ready to load the boat.
Make sure your car is not blocking any others or the entry/exit points.
Get a release, then read completely and sign, returning it to the group leader.
Do not load the boat until the captain gives the OK.
Keep all tanks bungeed in the tank racks so they will not fall out. Keep all gear stowed so that the deck is clear for diver and crew movement.
Listen to the briefing given by the captain and the mate.
If you do not have a dive buddy please inform the mate after their briefing and they will get you paired up with someone.
There is a cooler filled with ice on board for drinks, snacks, etc. Please leave your cooler in your car.
Move to one side of the boat or the other and stay still for head counts.
If you need to use the head (bathroom) get proper instruction on its function.
If you need help on the boat, ask the crew or the dive staff.
Wash all gear properly at the end of each day. Dust caps in the regulators, etc.
If the crew has been helpful and added to your enjoyment of the trip, a tip is greatly appreciated but never expected. Look for the tip jar on the boat.
