After you have a few dives under your weight belt, check out beautiful Paradise Springs in Belleview, FL. It is a spring fed sink with fossils in the walls, depths can exceed 100 feet. You will need two dive lights to enter and you should try to be there early. Entry fee is $30 (cash only)
This is a world-famous dive site and possibly the nicest shore dive in Florida. Located in Rivera Beach, FL, blue heron is home to many dive charters as well as an easily accessible beach. The site is free, has a max depth of 20 feet, and is brimming with macro life. Be sure to check the tide charts to ensure a safe and fun dive.
Rainbow River is a 5.7-mile-long spring fed river in Dunnellon, FL. It is a shallow drift dive with max depth of 26 feet. Launch your own boat at KP Hole or just take the Rainbow River Taxi from the same spot. Be sure to take in the wildlife refuge on the left-hand side as you drift peacefully down this natural lazy river.
Just across the street from Blue Grotto in Williston, FL, Devils Den is a unique dive inside a spring fed sinkhole with a maximum depth of 60 feet. This is a great place to go and brush up on your dive skills. Be sure to look behind the stairs to see the bat colony. Entry fee for this site is $38.
Often referred to as nature’s swimming pool, Alexander Springs offers crystal clear water, white sand bottom, and lots of native Florida life. It is located in the Ocala National Forest. Alexander Springs has a max depth of about 25 feet. Entry fee for this beautiful site is $12.
Recently renovated, this large clear spring fed cavern located in Williston, FL, right across from Devils Den. Depths can exceed 90 feet, but is a great place to get wet at any certification level. Make sure to watch your depth gauge so you do not go past your limit. Entry fee for this site is $54.
Ginnie Springs is located in High Springs, FL. Ginnie is a series of springs that discharge into the Santa Fe River. This is a great spot to practice skills and experience a large variety of diving in a single location. Be sure to bring your tube or camping gear for after diving fun. Scuba diving cost between $24 and $32.
